Hello, and welcome to NextSteps Counselling.
I’m Dr. Sunepsungla, a PhD holder, educator, and counsellor with over 15 years of teaching experience working closely with students, young adults, and individuals at all stages of life. My journey in guidance and counselling has been a natural one—long before I had a formal brand or name, people sought me out for advice, support, and perspective on both career and personal challenges.

My PhD in Philosophy has shaped my approach to be thoughtful, reflective, and grounded in real human understanding. I’ve previously served as the Coordinator of a Career Counselling Cell, helping students explore their potential, choose paths aligned with their interests, and develop confidence in their decisions.

Even before I had formal titles or certifications, I am humbled that many students and individuals look up to me and feel comfortable sharing their concerns—whether academic pressures, career doubts, or personal struggles. This trust drives my passion to provide meaningful counselling that empowers individuals to make informed decisions and lead purposeful lives. That consistent trust is what inspired me to establish NextSteps Counselling — a space where challenges are not roadblocks, but turning points.

I believe that counselling is not about having all the answers, but about finding the next step forward. My approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and practical guidance. Every person’s story is unique, and I aim to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you can reflect, regroup, and move ahead with confidence.

Dr. Sunepsungla is not just a counsellor - she is a friend. I was initially confused about the career path I wanted to pursue and sought her help. As a BA student, I always felt unsure about what to do next. The psychometric test really opened my eyes—it showed me things about myself I had never understood before. After completing my graduation in Sociology, I was confused about what to do next. I knew I didn’t want to continue with further studies, but I also had no clear idea of which direction to take. That’s when I came to NextSteps Counselling Centre for guidance. The sessions helped me understand myself better — my interests, strengths, and the kind of work environment I’d be comfortable in. The counsellor was very patient and practical in helping me explore different options. It was through this process that I realised I was better suited for skill-based training, and the F&B sector was suggested as a good fit for me. Following that advice, I took up the recommended training, and I’m really happy to share that I’ve been selected for an internship in Goa starting this November. I feel more confident about the path I’ve chosen and grateful for the clarity and motivation I received here.
